We don't have to take ENGLISH this year?
isn't that too good to be true?
affirmatron it is too good to be true....but seriously..if our credits( LS) we took, carry over to this year..that means we already finished one 0.5 engl...and we need only 0.5 right?

I think it would be cool to take english for second year. But only if they make it not so boring and haring all these weirdo boring english teacher and make us sit through all these classes where we all wish that we could just hang ourselves i the class room. Maybe my memory has failed me but I remember even english class in high school was more interesting than the english class here.

i would have to disagree... in my grade 11 year my teacher had literally written a book on grammar and would lecture on past participles for the entire period... it was terrible... if i had a choice over ocad english or that english i would definilty take ocad english....
... but on all other points i agree..

in grade 12 english we got the option to make either a movie or write an essay. hahaha! it was great! especially seeing as some of the movies me and my buddies made didn't even make sense!

kaytee your hight school actually focused that much on grammar?!? that is so cool! I actually like grammar. it actually wasn't the grammar that made the english class boring. it was the way that the class was set up. we just got to site there and listen there isn't any involvement at all.

you all missed out on the OCAD ENGL beta test course I was in.
the first half focused on Rap music, or at least a middle class white interpretation of it.
the second half was on how Bush is an idiot, and the Middle East is far different than our media's potrayle of it.
There was no grammer, no real english stuff at all. One assignment was to attend an anti-war rally and write about our experience.
Once yopu have your .5 ENGL, you are done with english, then its off to HUMN, SOSC, and SCTMs....

i actually had a great english teacher here at OCAD. Moira... can't remember her last name, she was awesome, then got fired, or quit, because she wasn't following the boring curriculum, and was replaced by the usual boring engl1b01 teacher...

My Teacher Dr. (yes I said doctor) Deidre Flynn was awesome! she gave us so much freedom and didn't follow the crap-ass curriculum. I think she's gone now too.

Kyewtee: I had moira too... but she got fired... however the administration sent out a letter that said that Moira "couldn't handle the work load" which was total bs. Some of my fellow peers emailed her and she told us she got canned. if you remember... a LOT of people were skipping english last year because not only was it fucking boring but absolutely USLESS! I mean, what's the point of doing grade 12 english over again when it's the ONLY manditory mark to have to get INTO OCAD?! Anyways, Moira was creative and fun and took these lame ass writing assignments and gave them a creative twist.. and people were actually showing up to her class... i know i did. but because she was changing the assignments and being loose on the due dates they canned her... because i guess they were upset at what a shitty ciriculem they created and unfortunatly for her she was the only teacher who actually pointed it out. then our class got Mr. Boyd... who has to be the polar opposite of Moira. If mr. Evil and Ben stien had a love child... boyd would be it. zzZZzzZZzzz

my engl. instructor last year was deported..then was replaced with that jackass stu..i wouldn't mind taking another english course if its more creative writing type deal
myocad.com is an independent student community for OCAD. That boys and girls happens to stand for Ontario College of Art and Design. The "of" and "and" didn't make it into the acronym, otherwise our website would be called myocoaad.
